What's going on guys welcome back toanother episode of Pod Flix and Chill? As always, I am your host Andrew and ifyou are new to the show make sure you follow us on social media, pod, Flix, the letter N and chill and make sure you hit that subscribe button whereveryou listen to podcast, so you stay notified for future episodes. If you'rea friend of the show welcome back, it has been way too long. It's been abouttwo months since I published the last episode, and I have a perfectly goodexplanation for that, which I will get into at the end of today's show, but weare going to kick things off right now, with the new show format that I puttogether the last episode, starting with the news segment, where I breakdown some of the top streaming new stories that have come out in the lastweek or two, and it wouldn't be a new segment, if I didn't mention thebiggest merger of recent history and that is Amazon, buying m gmuend, eightand a half billion dollars now. This is significant for a number of reasons one.It is Amazon's second largest purchase of a company behind whole foods, andtwo M G studios has over four sand movie titles and over seventeenthousand TV show titles in its intellectual property catalogue thatincludes franchise names like rocky and creed, pink, Panther, James Bond, legally blond, the Thomas Crown affair, handmaid's tail, and so so many more soyou can guarantee that Amazon is going to be pumping out spin, offs and reboots and that a lot of these already existing titles are going to startmaking their way on to prime video. In fact, the senior vice president ofPrime Video Mike Hopkins recently said in an interview that they plan to diveinto this catalogue and start to re. Imagine some properties, so I'm reallyhoping for a double o series where they...

...take a look at some of the other doubleo agents in Mi six, instead of just James Bond. I think that would be areally neat idea for a limited series or a mini series, or you know, heck even just a six seasonseries where each season focuses on a different double agent, leading up toDouble O. Seven who's featured in the films last Wednesday screen rentpublished an article about the top ten streaming original television showsaccording to rotten tomatoes, and I have a number of issues with this listthat I'm going to dive into. But first I want to read you the list, startingat number, ten and working our way down to number one and we're going to kickthat list off with the Amazon prime original Bosh, followed by the net flixoriginal unbelievable. Then we go back over to Amazon prime for catastrophe.Back over to net flix for American vandal net Flix's big mouth comes in atnumber: six and Net flix his crazy head at number. Five. We stay on net flix for the blood ofZeus at number four, and then we finally get a Disney plus original forthe number three spot. The imagineering story, which is a Doki series about theimagineers of Disney world and Disneyland I've not seen it. But I'veheard good things. We go back to net flig for the top two spots with dashand lily coming in at number two and the re boot of the baby sitters club atnumber. One now right off the bat, I have to say the baby sitters clubreally, but that's not my only concern looking at this list, the top fivetitles all are ranked at a one hundred percent tomato meter score now, ifyou're unfamiliar with Rotten Tomatoes One, what rock are you living under andtwo? They basically collect an aggregate of critic, reviews and scoremovies and T v shows based on these...

...reviews. They also have an audiencescore, but people really concern themselves with the tomato Meta rating,so this article is all about the tomato meter rating. So when you have thefirst five spots listed at one hundred percent on your tomato meter, how areyou determining what order they go in on that list? Are you determining it bya secondary score of the audience score or some other mysterious method, or isit just kind of like we're going to pop these in wherever we want to like?Could it have actually been blood of Zeus at the number one spot? So it's avery flawed system and I want to know what you guys think about theseparticular ranking, because another thing that I'm surprised by is thatthere is no marvel or star wars on this list. I know that they're, two of themost divisive fan bases in the world and I don't think that's hyperbole tosay that. I think that both of those fan bases are very charged in terms ofhow passionate they feel about these different properties. But we have greatshows in the Mandalari an we had a fantastic run of Falcon in the wintersoldier. I think it was one of the best TV shows I've seen in the past year andwe have Wan Division, which was equally good, although the first few episodeswere a bit of a slow burn, but to not even have one of those shows crack. Thetop ten spots is a little alarming, but let me know what you guys think of thislist. Do you agree or not hit me up on social at pot, Flix and chill next inthe news for all you, Karate Kids Fans, Cobra Kai, released the logo for theupcoming season, for which is expected to drop later this year and it's thename of the show with a Roman numeral four, it's very classy and it's saidagainst a black backdrop, which I think really highlights the ominous tone ofthe upcoming season. If you followed season, three were left in a veryprecarious situation. The stakes have been the highest that they've been inthe show. We have Daniel and Johnny...

...finally teaming up after thirty plusyears they're. Finally teaming up to try to stop John Crease, who has calledon the help of his old war, buddy and former karate kid three villain, TerrySilver. Yes, that is right. The show runners have officially confirmed thereturn of Terry Silver in season for of Cobra and the way they did. It wasgenius. They started putting out this marketing campaign all over socialmedia asking if people had any spare hair ties, which obviously you know Terry Silver, wears his hair and a ponytail, and that's to keep his hair out of his eyes for when he kicks your ass. So they did that as a neat, littlegimmick, and then they finally confirmed that. Yes, Terry silver isgoing to be coming back, so I'm really interested to see where season fortakes off. If you haven't caught up on the rest of Covey or any of Cobra, Iencourage you to do so. Net flix acquired the show from you tube andthey've just been doing a fantastic job with it. I'm really excited to see howfar they can take it before it loses the essence of the original filmtrilogy, which I now want to go back and watch specifically Crida kid three, because I don't remember it that much, but I remember what a Jerk Terry silverwas. Last but not least, we are going to dive into some of the trailers thatdrop o this past week for streaming originals and we're going to kickthings off with the guy that everybody loves to hate, and that is Chris Prattand his movie the tomorrow war coming to prime video on July. Second, this isa film about soldiers being plucked from the past to fight a war againstaliens in the future that are going to wipe humanity off the face of the earthand they need to recruit soldiers and take out these aliens. The action inthis film looks very similar to Michael Bays Action in the Transformers FilmsAka a lot of Shit blowing up,...

...but it seems sort of almost like areverse terminator kind of vibe, and it's I don't know, I don't know how I'mgoing to feel about it. If I even care enough to watch it, the trailer wasinteresting, but again it was one of those where I'm not quite sure if I'mgoing to sit down and watch it. But what I am very curious in watching isthe next film that we're going to talk about, and that is infinite onparamount, plus that drops June tenth and its stars Marky Mark Walberg. Itwas originally supposed to start Chris Evans, but he had to back out due tosome scheduling conflits with the Apple TV plus series defending Jacob, whichhe stars in. But this film is based on a two thousand and nine novel calledthe reimaging papers and it's about a guy who's having hallucinations and hewas diagnosed with schizophrenia, but it turns out that he is actually aninfinite, which means he lives forever. He's lived and died thousands of times, but it looks very action. Packed some of the car chase sequences seemed veryfast and furious, so we can probably expect some some of the similar tonefrom that film but, as I said, that comes to paramount plus on June tenth, the final film we're going to talk about is a hul original film calledfalse positive. It is a baby making horror movie starring a lot, a glazierjustin throw and Pierce Brosnan its centers on a couple who are strugglingto get pregnant, and then they eventually get some success from theirdoctor. Pierce Brosan, who you know, is a little little creepy. You knoweverything starts to be going well, it looks like everything's going to befine and Dandy. There's some upbeat music playing in the trailer and thenthe the woman Lucy starts to see something weird on her sonogram and itstarts getting spooky. It looked very similar. It reminded me totally of thefilms the strangers staring Julian more.

It just had a very weird off puttingvibe, I'm not one for those like horror. Thriller style movies like that, likethe suspense, like jump scare films, but I don't know we're going to seewhat people think about it. It's set to release on Hulu on June, twenty fifth,so lots of things upcoming. Let me know in the comments on social in my DM,whatever some of the things that you're looking forward to from your favoritestreaming platform a- and that brings us to the main topic oftoday's show- and that is the mighty dogs game changers on Disney plus. NowI had first mentioned this show as part of the episode that I did for Disneyplus es investor panel when they announced everything coming to theplatform this year and beyond, and I've mentioned it a couple other times insome blog posts and guest spots of things that I'm really looking forwardto from Disney plus, as it was getting closer and closer to release, so itreleased, I believe, on March twenty. Sixth, it was a Friday, it just wrappedup its ten episode season and I was pleasantly surprised by the entire show.Obviously it's about a group of kids dealing with where they belong inschool and society. You know when coaches tell them that maybe theyshould just quit hockey and give up hockey- and I like that aspect, becauseI think it holds true to the original story in the original concept of thefirst mighty ducks film. Here we had a group of kids who just like gettingtogether playing hockey, but they were kind of these like rejects and the kidsthat nobody wanted to coach. Nobody wanted to really give them the time ofday, and then we had Gordon Bombay who...

...didn't want to coach them either, butwound up turning them into the mighty ducks and now, in this series, it's setin present day and we have the mighty ducks who are a dynasty in the PEhockey world. They have a ten year winning streak for a statechance, they're looking to to get their eleventh year in a row. Wind streak andthe story really focuses around Evan Moro, who gets cut from the team andhis mom Alex played by Lauren, Graham Aka Laura. I Gilmore and you know, she's not having it. You knowyou have these groups of twelve year old kids who are getting pushed byphysical trainers and coaches and personal trainers, and they got a theygot nutritionists and sports psychologists and all these differentpeople- and you know they have these twelve year olds, looking at collegeapplications already, and she just thinks that hockey should be fun. So the coach, when he's cutting Evan tellshim they hey. If you're not good at hockey. At this point, then you knowjust don't bother and that sort of becomes a running gag and that winds upat becoming the name of this reject to team that don't bothers so evan. Hismom are out to recruit all of the other rejects and at first it doesn't go sowell until they finally start to get a team behind them, and it's really alesson of them: sort of accepting their weirdness and the mom sort ofstruggling with. You know wanting the kids to have fun, but learning thatthey need to be independent and learning that winning is okay andwanting to win is okay and of course, we get Gordon Bombay back in the actionback on the rink and when I loved about his characterand the way they introduced him in this...

...series was that he did sort of startout as this grouchy grumpy guy who hated hockey, and it was very similarto the way we first start introduced to him in the original bity ducks film allthe way back, one thousand nine hundred and ninety two, and what I like about it as well as westart to learn a little bit more about what happened to Gordon between now andthen right, because we know that, throughout the course of the films heleft to go, play Minor League hockey, he got injured, and then we learnedthat he wound up going to coach at the collegiate level and we find out thathe did something that he wasn't supposed to do and he wound up gettingbanned from coaching for life. So now he runs an ice rink in Minneapolis thatAlex finds and she begins to coach her son's hockey team that don't bother sout of the rink, and it's this really pushing pole dynamic with o. You KnowGordon trying to push her away and push the kids away and push how much hedoesn't like hockey on to them, and then he slowly startsto get pulled back in a little bit, begrudgingly at first and then totallyand completely willingly- and I really liked it. It was a great homage to the original film series. It's definitely a cheesy kid show, but it's a cheesy kid show in the way thatmost Disney properties are cheesy. Kids shows especially with this, becauseit's a re boot, a lot of the kids that grew up with this film are either myage or older and they're starting to have kids of their own and the thosekids are starting to get interested in sports, and I think this is a perfectblend. This is really what Disney does a great job with, and what the writersof this show specifically did a great job with, and it was writing a showthat was for kids, but it's also for...

...their parents, because it had somereally nice moments and nice call backs to the original trilogy. For instance, the hockey rink that the ducks play out of is the Hendrix hockey arena andHendrix, as we know, was the sponsor of the junior good will games in d to themighty ducks now speaking of D, Two mighty ducks. I also think that theseason finale here that just aired on Friday had a lot of similarities to theDTIGHEARNA show down between the ducks and the don't bother is very similar totemoin team Iceland and we even get a box of old jerseys coming out as asurprise at the end of the episode. But I don't want to spoil too too much foryou and I think one of the episodes that really brings back the old ducksand the new ducks and everything in between and really centers on, thatnostalgia. Piece of the show was episode. Six, where they had a numberof the original cast members, come back and make Cameo appearances, so we hadFulton, read, show up and destroy coach Bombay's window, just like you did. Intheir first meeting we saw less averment again. We saw Connie Moro andGe Germain who are now married. We saw Adam Kakete banks and wow woo Kenny woocoming at you now, of course, he was in de two mighty ducks as well. He wasn'tan original duck, but it was great to see everybody come back for it. Thatsort of reunion episode. Now one of the notable cast members who was missingwas Joshua Jackson and in a recent interview with entertainment, weeklyone of the executive producers of the show did say that it was hard to managethe logistics of bringing everybody up to Vancouver to film. They didoriginally intent for Charlie Conway to be a part of the episode, but becausethey were filling during the pandemic, it was difficult to sort of schedulethem to come out there for two weeks and quarantine and then be on set fortwo weeks in film, so they it sounds...

...like they are going to try to tie inmore cast members appearing in the second season of the show which therewill definitely be the end of the first season indicates like one hundredpercent a season to, and I think the executive producers are looking forwardto that, because there's a lot of other story lines that they want to sort ofexplore. For example, the offscreen relationship that may or may not havehappened with Charlie Conway's, mom and Gordon Bombay in between the events ofthe first mighty ducks film and this series. We also start to see a somewhatblooming romance between Alex Evans, Bom and Gordon, which I really hopethey don't explore. I think it would kind of muddy the waters of the show. Alittle bit I just want to. You know, enjoy my ducks universe. The way it is, but I would like to see some morecameos from other former cast members. You know we got Charlie Conway, we gotthe other half of the Bash Brothers de Portman he's missing what happened isJulie, the Cat Daphne you know I want to know. I know they were they wouldthey would have liked to have keen and Thomson come back, but he is busy withsn and now he's got his own show as well on NB. So there's a lot of thingsthat are still up in the air about cast members coming back, but there'sdefinitely going to be a season too and lots more opportunity to explore thosedifferent story, lines and another sort of little Easter egg that I picked upon which I may be stretching here. But wehave the the dogs head. Coach coach tea is played by Delan playfair and hecomes from a hockey family. His Dad was a former HL head coach, both of hisbrother brothers play professional hockey to some extent, and even dillonhimself has started in a movie all about Gordy how and he plays a hockeyplayer on the Hulu original series letter Kenny. Now we're going to betalking a little bit about letter Kenny Right now, because I in that show Delanplay fair, plays a hockey player, as I...

...said, named Riley who's, very dumblovable, but dumb and his coach of the letter. Kenny Irish is always goingaround kicking trash hands. Calling them pheasants, saying stuff is effing, embarrassing, every time they lose and it just itcracks me up every time, because the guys, just you know ridiculous andafter the first face off of the ducks and the don't bothers the ducks lose and that don't bother s wind up winningand as soon as they get off the ice. Delan playfairs coach tea gathers the ducks around and he's likeall right, pheasants, listen up! That was embarrassing and it was just verysimilar to the way his coach would handle team meetings in letter Kenny, and I can't help. But think that's a nice little Easter egg that was put inthere specifically for letter, Kenny fans, but again I could be stretching.I don't know if hockey players are commonly referred to as pheasants. Idon't know. If that's a common insult from coaches to players, it could be, Idon't know, but it was. It was a pretty fun line that had me laughing out loud.So this show has been a lot of fun. As I said, I was pleasantly surprised whenI first started watching it. I thought it was going to be a cheesy kidshow. I thought they were going to kind of ruin the mighty ducks for me, butit's actually just sort of helped to build that world, and it's reallytrying to embrace the essence of the original film trilogy and Keep It thesame with a lot of call backs a lot of nostalgia for the older fans, but a lotof you know cheesy and modern and goofy jokes. That kids today would appreciate-and I really like that- we're starting to see classic Gordon Bombay come backand I'm excited for season to like. I said I want to see more cameos fromolder cast members. I want to see more inside jokes. I want to see morenostalgia and I want to see more fun...

...hockey. It's just a good time. It's agreat show. You can check out all ten episodes of season, one on Disney plusit's now streaming, and let me know what you guys think you follow me onsocial media and let me know if you like, the mighty ducks the gamechangers. That sound means it's time for the new hidden gem segment, where Ibreak down a hidden, original streaming TV series or film that I think you guysmight enjoy, and this week we are talking about Shute, a Hulu originalseries from two thousand and sixteen. It originally aired for twenty episodesand it stars Jeffrey Donovan of Burn Notice, fame- and here is the briefplot synopsis, Jeffrey Donovan Stars In this Hulu original drama as CharlieHaverford, a scam artist whose future is controlled by Fonso. A single fatherwho runs a psychic empire belonging to the mark's family, Haverford's wife,Linda played by Katy Strickland, is tired of their mediocre life and yearnsfor change. When Charley suffers a blow to the head at the hands of a client'sangry boyfriend, he begins to see and feel very real and fundamental truths.A big change for a person who has been living a life built on fraud, IsabellaRosaline, plays the role of Rita the mark's, seductive and sadisticmatriarch. Now, basically, he gets hit on the head and he starts having thesevisions and premonitions, and he doesn't really know how to handle themand they all try to get out under the thumb of this Roma family that they'reowed money to, and I really thought the first season of the film was strong ere.I'm sorry. The first season of the series was very strong, even Tho. Thefirst couple, episodes of season to from what I recall were pretty decentlywritten- I enjoyed the show it was engaging it sort of had me on the edgeof my seat every time I was watching it...

...and then something sort of happenedwhere it just fell off towards the end of season to- and I don't know if theygot canceled and they just you know, weren't sure if they were gettingrenewed or they were getting poor reviews or poor ratings. I don't know, but something for me just didn't really connect in the back half of the season. It's got a seven point. Four rating on IM DB and the audience score and rottentomatoes is an eighty eight percent, but the tomato meter rating has itcertified rotten at thirty seven percent. So it's not doing too hot onrotten tomatoes, but, as we know from their top ten list, they don't knowwhat they're doing over there. So I'd be very curious to hear, if any of youguys have seen the show and what you think make sure you hit me up on socialand if you have a hidden gem that you think the listeners of Patli and chillwould enjoy. You can head on over to pot Flix and chilcomb click. The voicemessage button in the bottom right hand corner of the screen and leave me amessage and I'll play it back on the show, and you can tell us all aboutyour favorite hidden gem of streaming. Now back at the beginning of thisepisode, I mentioned that I took about a two month, hiatus from producingcontent from being on social media and I just sort of disappeared from allfeeds and, if you're, an avid follower of the show, you may have noticed thatyou may not have if you're new, to the show, you probably didn't notice it,and I felt that I needed to explain to you guys why I took that two months offand what's been happening in the meantime. So the big thing was my girlfriend ofseven years and myself. We've got married back in April on theseventeenth at our childhood church and we celebrated with our friends and ourfamilies at her grandparents farm in New Jersey. It was a beautiful day, full of love and good times and good memories. And then, after that we tooka nice two week, honeymoon vacation...

...almost completely off the grid. InHawaii we spent half the trip on Maui and then the other half in a Wahu, andit was one of the best experiences of my life, not just because it was Hawaii, but because I was there with her, we were celebrating and we just had nostress. I didn't have to worry about posting the face book or Insara. Ididn't have to worry about interacting with anybody in the feeds. It was justa nice blissful trip. We took a ton of pictures and videos and we're going tobe putting up a vacation. Video on you tube at some point in the near future,so I'll be sure to link it on the shows feeds when we do that. But part of theother reason that I took some time off was because I really need to focus onfamily and reprioritize family. You know back when the pandemic hit him andI lost income that was going to allow us to pay for the big, elaboratewedding that we wanted to have. We were looking at this beautiful two hundredand seventy five Acre farm. We were going to invite close to three hundredpeople. It was going to be a really big party and then coved and we lost someincome, and originally we decided to just push it back another year and notget married until two thousand and twenty two. But right after we madethat decision with the venue, we had some family health scares and we had tohave our own conversations. We re evaluated and realized that it would bemuch better to have a smaller wedding with everybody that we cared about andeverybody that we loved being able to attend. Rather than have this bigelaborate party two years from now- and you know not have everybody there sothis past fall, we made the decision to change the data. Second time to thispast spring, we had a lot of planning to do in a short period of time andafterwards we're so glad that we made...

...the change in that the day went onwithout any hitches. It was a fantastic day month, really part of the otherthing. That sort of made me re, evaluate my my priorities was themeetings that we had with our priest prior to getting married. We gotmarried Catholic and for those of you who aren't familiar with the Catholictradition, you have to sit down and have a series of meetings with a priestso that the priest can get to know the couple so that the couple can learnmore about how to grow in their faith and start their married life together, and I'm not here to really sell you on the idea of Catholicism or religion,I'm just providing a little back story for for what I've been experiencingover the past couple of months, and it's been a lot of growth and one ofthose things that changed for me was that I've realized that I tend to havea lot of material priorities. I prioritize having things over needingthings. You know I like to collect things. I've said for the longest timeI take pride in owning all of the marvel movies, all of the Piar movies, the x men movies, the born movies, the Lord of the rings movies, the HarryPotter movies, everything I mean. I even have every season of smalle on dvd And when I started this podcast all these new streaming services came out, they were shiny and I just who I needed to have them all. I felt justified Imeant like yes, I can subscribe to all these, maybe eventually write them offas a business expense. I can have a legitimate reason for subscribing tothese streaming services every single monthand as we get closer and closer to the wedding, I was starting to realize thatone I was still trying to juggle producing the podcast and doing weddingplanning and working on another podcast, and it was intense. It was a lot on myplate. I felt stressed every single weekend, which you know for me: I'mworking my full time job all week. I I...

...only had the weekends to plan withHannah and I was spending it doing podcast stuff and it was just gettingvery stressful and intimidating. So when I really looked at it, I found that, just like those small VilleD v, Ds that I love Small Ville was my favorite show back in the early twosands. I loved that show, but just like those d vd, some of these streamingservices that I subscribe to were collecting quote unquote dust on myshelf. So in a decision right before thewedding, I decided to cancel half of my streaming services. I got rid of H, BoMax Discovery, plus paramount, plus, and even though I was in the middle ofwatching invincible, I got rid of prime video. I saved about a combined totalof forty as a month, not that I did it for the money, but I feel like a weight has beenlifted off my chest. Even after coming back from all of the family, you know adventures and the honeymoonand the wedding, and now that I'm back into work, I just feel like a weight, has been lifted because now I'm not worried about eight different streamingplatforms. I'm worried about four and I can still put out a lot of contentbecause there's still a lot of original titles on these streaming services. Butnow I can spend more time with my family, which has become a huge part ofmy life over the past couple of months. Now, when the boys comes back and whenJack Ryan comes back to Prime I'll definitely re subscribe to prime videoand if the Avatar studios content that I'm looking forward to is exclusive toparamount plus, then I'll definitely be re. Subscribing to that. But for nowI'm going to prioritize family and pottle and chill is going to prioritizenet Flix, Hulu, Disney, plus and Apple TV plus, which is still one of the mostunderrated streaming platforms. In my incredibly humble opinion, and I'm still going to continue to deprioritize things in other areas of my...

...life, I'm going to try to reduce theamount of physical clutter that I have, and that is thanks in part to a netflix film by the minimalists called less is more it's now streaming on netflix. If you guys, are interesting but drop a comment. I'd love to hearfrom you guys, you know: Do you think I've made a horrible mistake bycancelling of these subscriptions? I don't think so, but if you think sodefinitely let me know you can also head on over to the website. Howicksand CILOM, for a full risk of other streaming shows that I have beenwatching and make sure you could bet subscribe on wherever you list or watchthe show.
