What's going on guys, welcome toanother episode of Potflix and Chill I'm your host Andrew and I'd like towish you all a happy belated life day. Now, if you don't know what lifeday isor you new to the Star Wars, universe, that's okay! We're going to break itdown in just a second. We are here to talk about the new Lego, Star Wars, holiday, special thet, premiered, on Disney plus on November, seventeenth,so emere two days ago, now, What's interesting right off the bat aboutthis special is that they chose the exact same premiere date as theoriginal Star Wars holiday, special in one housand, nine hundred and seventyeight, so both premiered on November. Seventeenth, that's your fun factnumber one, but what is lifeday lifeday wasoriginally introduced as a holiday in Ne Thousand Nine hundred and seventyeight holiday special from Star Wars. So in that special we see Han and Chuireturning to Jubaka's home world of Kashik, where the wookies celebratelifeday and it's essentially their version of Christmas. They gathertogether they celebrate family, they exchange gifts and they all honor thetree of life that is very central to wookie culture, and you can find entirebackstories of the lifeday celebration...

...itself online. It was originallycelebrated every three years and then it became an annual tradition, but thegeneral consensus is that it is essentially the wookie version ofChristmas. Now they do have these like weird redlife day, robes, which I guess you could equate to either like our uglyChristmas sweaters or like matching family pajamas, but outside of that it's very christmasy. The originalspecial received a lot a lot of bad press over the past forty two years and having watched it in preparationfor the Lego special, I have to agree with every bad thing. That's been saidabout it. It was entirely cheesy entirely can'tpy and you can finhd it for free on Youtube. It's an hour and a half. So if you, if you've, got an Houer and a half to kill-and you want to like get your mind sucked out through your through yournose or your eyeballs or whatever watch it, that said, it did introduce thecharacter of Bobafet to the Star Wars, universe, so that was fun and outsideof that really didn't, do anything productive for Star Wars. It takesplace between episode for and episode five. We see LEA sing a life day, themed song overthe Star Wars, theme song, which was an odd choice to me. But I digress so theLego, Star Wars Holiday Special, a lot more fun, a lot more engaging. It is afamily friendly thing and it's only forty seven minutes. So it's half theruntime of the original special. That said, there aren't a lot of referencesto the special other than the release date and the fact that the returning toKushik to celebrate lifeday and are...

...waiting for Tubaka's family. Now, while they don't reference Tobaka'sfamily by name when the Lego characters appear for those who have seen NeThousand Nine hundred and seventy eight special you'll recognize chewy's wifeMala his father itchy and his son lumpy. They are all they all look like their originalcharacters from one thousand nine hundred and seventy eight special. So Ithought that was cool, but again outside of that there's no realreferences to the original special. Now. What we do see is that this takes placeafter the rise of skywalker everybody's gathered together. Po is way tooexcited about lifeday celebrations. He's got his BBy ate ugly Christmas sweater on he'slike super pumped about decorations and cooking, and all this other stuff helike wants to have the Best Life Day ever Ray, on the other hand, is gettingreally frustrated because she feels that she is not being a good teacher tofin. She just can't figure out how to be a good Jedie master. She's read allthe ancient tects and she just doesn't get it. So she goes off on an adventure to itnearby gettle Jedi temple to figure out how to become a better teacher whilethere she discovers a key that sends her back in time or forward in time toa bunch of different Star Wars. Moments throughout history, so did Disey justconfirm time. Travel is possible in the Star Wars Universe because, as we know, they say everything after their acquisition of Lucas Film in twothousand and fourteen is cannon, and this is very obviously after twothousand and fourteen. So are we going to start seeing time Travel Ing StarWars? I don't know what do you guys think? Let me know so anyway. She goesthrough all these different these different times in Star Wars, history and it's a lot a lot of fun.

I have a breakdown of pretty mucheverywhere. She goes and what's really cool about, the key itself is when sheuses it. She has to spin it in sort of this like circular motion and it opensup a portal and it looks so much like Dr Stranges Slang rings. So if you'refamiliar with the avengers or dtr strange you'll know what I'm talkingabout and I'm sure it was done intentionally because Disney owns bothmarvel and Lucas Film. So it was probably intentional, but anywho here'sa breakdown, a very quick breakdown of the different places that we see raytravel. She first travels to Degaba, where Yoda is training, Luke fromempire strikes back then we see her jump into Phantom Menice right beforeObiwan and Quygon Jin are gaste at the beginning of the film, and I actuallythat was one of my top scenes from the movie, because we see Oviwan sort ofbanging his head against the table, going boring, boring, boring. Who Caresabout trade disputes right and if that just doesn't sum up everybody'sfeelings about the phantom menace in the first five minutes, then I don'tknow what does but from there she jumps into anelevator scene somewhere in revenge of the sifth. Then she jumps into thedeath star attack run from a new hope right into Luke's, cockpit in red five.So that's fun from there. We see your jumpinto return of the Jedi right before darth bader heads down to collect lukefrom the endoor moon. Now this scene becomes sort of the climax of the film, because Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatein see the portal and emperorpalpateen sort of throws darth vader in to go after ray and a whole battlescene between ray and darth vader takes place Spanning Star Wars, history, soagain, quick rundown of those scenes.

We've got they visit the Battle of Hath andEmpire Strikes Back then they visit the battle of Mustafar revenge of the fith. Then they make a special guest appearance at the end of season, one ofthe Manda Laur in so we see Mando and the assassin droid IG. Eighty eightfending awesome storm troopers and as ray and Darth baders sort of fallingthrough the sky, they turn they see baby Yoda and they were like, oh that'sso cute, and then they continue on their fight. So from there they hit thepod racing scene in phantom menace they hit. I can't tell if it's the clonewars, animated series or attack of the clones, but we see two clone trooperson speeders and they are voiced by the one and only D, Bradley Baker who, if you've, seenclone wars and you've seen rebels. You know he voices the clones in all thoseseries, so that was cool from there. They go into the rise ofskywalker, the very end with the syth fleet being attacked by the the new republic, and then it ends with them landing on tattooing right at the beginning of newhope where Luke comes out and he stares at the twin sons. Now I liked this moment because throughouttheir battle right throughout ray and darthbader battling, they seem to becollecting all these star wars figures throughout time, and it reminded mevery much of bill and Ted's excellent adventure where they're going throughand they're collecting all these historical figures for their historyreport at the end of the film right, that's very much what this seemed like.So they land on the desert. Planes of tattooing and Luke is looking out overthe Dune Sea at the twin suns he's drinking a carton of blue milk and ashe pulls it away, he's got a blue milk mustache, which apparently is a runninggag in Lego, but we have in this scene...

...we see like four different Lukeskywalkers. We see three Ov one canoves. We see two hant Solos and a Dorth Mallwith no leg. Sorry, I had to put that in there it'sa holiday special come on, but it was really cool because you getthe the two Han solas arguing over who's going to shoot. GREEDO. First, you see the three Obwon Kanobes all going: Oh hello, that and then you havedarth mole, yelling Carnobay. So anyway, epic good versus Evil BattleContinues and Ray and Darth vader continue about their time hopping sortof adventure battle thing, DART vader, gets his hand on the keysand takes the temper Palpatein from return to the Jedi and they decide tohoppinto the future. So this is where we get to see. Darth, vader and Emperpalpaten interact with a shirtless kylo wren, who hums his own theme song, ashe's introduced, which I laughed out loud at because when I first saw the force awakens in two thousand andfifteen, my fiance Hanna took me as a birthday gift. So we went. It was thefirst star wars, film she had ever seen and we go and we see it. I'm like inlove, because you know star wars is back after. However, many years and a few months after seeing the filmwe're walking into target- and you know how target has the automated slidingdoors well Hannah walks into the target doors, pushing her hands open likeshe's, using the force and as she does so she starts humming. The KYLO rantheme song, I'm like what are you humming and she's like? Are you serious? That's a Kylo rent theme, I'm like what and I kid you not like it was the Kailorent theme and she had picked up on it...

...before I had and I'm like a diehardstar. Wars Fan a die hard like music appreciation fan and she had caughtonto something after watching her first ever star wars, film that I hadn'tcaught on to so this scene, just kind of made mechuckle a little bit more than it should have, but it was still it wasfun, but let's jump back to the Millenium Falcon on cachite, because, while while Ra's doing all this stuff, po is still really trying to kick offthe best lifeday party ever and he feels like it's turning into a disasterso fin and rose help him set it up by getting all these other star wars.Characters to show up. So we have Max Rebo who, if you guys areunfamiliar, is the Blue Elephant from Jaba's palace who plays like thekeyboards. We have him show up. We have Lando Calrisian voiced by the one andonly Billy D Williams, making his return as Lando. We also have Mascanatafrom the neutrilogy and what I thought was really cool wasthere was such a mixture of like actual actors reprising their roles, as wellas actual voice actors reprising their roles for this special? So we had deeBradley Bakers, the clones which I had mentioned. We had Billy D Williams aslando the actual actress who portrays rose in the neutrilogy Kelly Mari Tran. She voysed rose and we have the og Anthony Daniels, reprising seatreperial. Yet again, and then we had a bunch of the animatedseries cast, so we had clonors Annikin and Klonors obion reprise their voiceroles. So that's man, Matt lanter and James Arnold Taylor, respectively. Theycame back for the special, the the guy who voices all of the Lego Emperorpalpatens. He voiced emperor Palpatein and the guy who voiced vader hasapparently done at twelve different...

...times for different movies. Video Games, specials things like that. So he's probably one of the most prolific voiceactors to do vader. Although James Earl Jones is the goat, but I thought that was really cool. They even make a throw a jrger binksreference and pose worried that the lifeday party is going to be worse thana Jargr binks Senate speech. So jarjr still remains the butt of most ofthe Star Wars, jokes. After all these years. What I really liked about the specialto is that is just good, clean family fun right so, like obviously ray, hasthis whole battle with Darth vader they throw in return to the Jedi, LukeSkywalker, and I believe the last Jedi Kylo wren and there's this epic battlescene on the death star. Good triumphs over Evil Rac sets everything rightagain, all is good in the world, and then she realizes that you know ththe skills that she had to be a good teacher. All along were there. She justneeds to be a good friend and except fin and help him rather than try to behis master, so you know really cheesy ending there, but that's pretty much the only cheese that we had in the film versus you knowan hour and a half of it, frm one thousandnine hundred and seventy eights. So I'll. Take this special over the the original special any day, in additionto Kylo Ren humming, his own theme, one of my favorite moments and, of course, the Ob one trade dispute thing. One of my favorite moments came whenray first goes back to Dagaba and Luke is being trained by Yoda. Yoda tellsthem to pull the x wing out of the swamp and he's like okay, I'll try andYoda's like no do or do not. There is no try, Luke says well, you know, isn't,isn't trying kind of like a good thing...

...like shouldn't. I actually try and Yodasays participation trophies for Jedi. There are not- and I may have found that momentfunnier than I should have so I might have cracked up just a little too hardat it, but that was probably one of my favorite moments so top three, I'mgoing to go Yoda and participation, trophies ove one trade dispute and Kylowren humming his own theme, music. Those are probably my top three momentsfrom this show, but I also really enjoyed the marketing campaign. So if anybody knows who did the marketingcampaign for this holiday special tell me, I want to shake their hand inaddition to the sort of traditional star wars poster that we get with allthe characters. Against a space backdrop, we had three specific holidaythemed posters, the first of which was probably my favorite. It was a red backdrop with a Lego hand tied with some ribbon, and it said toLuke from your father and wow like that's something you canonly get away with if your lego right, because if it was a live action specialthat might not have played out so well, but the fact that its Lego made it work.Incredibly, I even saw a what I think is a photo shop of that poster on Redit, which featured a Lego hand and Lego legs, and it said to Darth vader fromyour old friend and, very obviously that's a referenceto revenge of the Sith Obe, one cuts off Annikin's legs and arm. So I chuckled at that. I thought that wasfunny. I don't think it's an officiallysanctioned posterfront Disney plus, though I'm going to go ahead and sayit's not, but if it is great, like I loved it, the other, the other holiday theme, posters, you know featured Lego, storm trooper with a a death star ornamentand then two Lego, light saberes. That...

...kind of looked like Christmas treelights, but the the hand was definitely my favorite overall I'm going to givethis special four out of five chill points. I would have liked to see morereferences to the Og holiday special because I'm a a massahiss like that, and I really like cheesy can'tpe references, but I think there wereplenty of fun moments, plenty of quality references. I loved the voicetalent on here and I think, if you have a young starwars fan. This is a great thing to just sort of put on get youinto the holiday spirit and there's a lot of great referencesfor the adults and for the parents who are who are lifetime star wars, fans, I'm really excited for the DISY plus original Kanovi series, as well asthe bad batch clone ors spinoff series that we're getting I'm looking forwardto both of those.
